Spectrum Solutions has been awarded the prestigious Best of State® award in the Science & Technology category for Medical Innovation.
Best of State is the gold standard of awards in the state of Utah recognizing outstanding individuals and businesses who achieve excellence in their field. Spectrum received this honor for its SDNA-1000 Saliva Collection Device.
“At Spectrum Solutions, our focus is on creating forward-looking and scalable end-to-end solutions for applications such as clinical diagnostics and commercialized product plans,” said Bill Phillips, Chief Operations Officer for Spectrum Solutions. “Our SDNA-1000 was born out of this innovative environment and since its launch, it has had a global impact not only on testing for COVID-19 but also on how saliva can be used for testing of cancer, viruses, and numerous other diseases and medical conditions. We are very grateful to have this Utah innovation be recognized and set apart with a Best of State award.”
Spectrum Solutions was the first to receive FDA authorization and introduce a nation, in the COVID-19 crisis, to a revolutionary “spit test” solution that not only challenged an entire industry’s standard diagnostic testing protocols, but pioneered a global industry shift favoring a safer, pain-free, and noninvasive bio-sample collection approach presenting an altogether better testing biomaterial. Facing a prolonged pandemic shut down, Spectrum has been praised for its “innovation under pressure”, credited for delivering professional sports such as Major League Baseball back to the game, and recognized for its pivotal at-home testing contribution including direct-to-patient delivery and sample self-collection.
The Best of State Awards were created in 2003 to recognize exceptional individuals, organizations, and businesses in Utah. Best of State candidates are evaluated by a panel of 100 judges based on three criteria: achievement in the field of endeavor; innovation or creativity in approaches, techniques, methods, or processes; and contribution to improving the quality of life in Utah.
