Spectrum announces company founder and COO, Bill Phillips has been honored as a Healthcare Hero by Utah Business Magazine for helping change the course of the pandemic in Utah.
“We add our heartfelt congratulations to Bill for the great honor and validation of being named a Utah Business Healthcare Hero,” said Stephen Fanning, CEO of Spectrum Solutions. “No one could have predicted the global difficulties that have impacted society in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. But very early on, Bill was able to harness our team’s collective innovation, ramp up manufacturing capabilities, and increase our employee count by many times. These efforts enabled us, in just a few months, to deliver the world an altogether new diagnostic option using saliva.”
Phillips was recognized for his efforts during a public health crisis. This included implementing a quality system and becoming ISO13485 certified, which was a challenge and a journey that required 100 percent buy-in and company-wide adoption. His efforts also helped drive the discovery that saliva can be a viable diagnostic option for mass viral testing. New discoveries, spawned by the initial research spearheaded by Spectrum Solutions and its partners are continuing to shed light on the importance of saliva to the future of modern medicine.
Leveraging Phillips’ unique set of organizational skills and vision, Spectrum Solutions delivered to desperate families and a frightened nation the ability to have pain-free, point-of-care, and at-home testing for everyone, including the most vulnerable populations such as the elderly and individuals living with special needs. Spectrum’s testing solution has also been credited for bringing Major League Baseball’s 2020 season back as well as helping schools and organizations reopen nationwide.
A key success component of many COVID-19 testing protocols, Spectrum’s innovation has successfully become the new “gold standard” offering a pain-free and more accurate solution for COVID-19 testing replacing the swab.
